A Spectacular Kitchen and Antiques in a Late 19th-Century Apartment
Certain homes immediately caught my eye, and this late 19th-century apartment in Gothenburg, Sweden, is one of those unique homes. The two-bedroom apartment is located in a turn-of-the-century building and features many original elements paired with antiques and beautiful wallpapers.
But the real star of the home is the renovated kitchen by Lidhults. It’s a magnificent room where period details, a classic kitchen design, and a soft color palette of pink and blue tones come together into one perfect room.

I usually start a home tour with the living room, but because I love this kitchen so much, I’m starting the tour in this room.
The kitchen by Lidhults was renovated in 2020, pairing classic beveled doors with brass fittings, Carrera marble countertops, and a luxurious Bertazzoni stove.
The kitchen features a beautiful mix of closed, glass-fronted, and open cabinets, creating plenty of storage space without feeling too closed off.
The wooden floorboards are hand-painted to mimic historic floor tiles. Beautiful stucco and a ceiling rosette add even more historical elements to the space.
Moving on to the living room, located in the center of the apartment, which also gives access to the apartment’s two bedrooms.
The living room is drenched with period features like wall mirrors with wall medallions, chest panels, a built-in bookcase, profiled doors, and beautiful stucco on the ceiling.
An angled wall with a large window floods the living room with light.
I adore these wall medallions above the doors leading to the bedrooms.
The master bedroom is an eclectic space with a poster bed and walls decorated with vibrant pink-toned Pierre Frey ‘Le Grand Corail’ wallpaper.
The door is surrounded by built-in wardrobes. The upper cabinets have glass doors decorated with rich purple curtains.
The second bedroom is a wonderfully light room thanks to the large windows and sheer curtains.
The walls are decorated with the Delancey wallpaper by Colefax and Fowler. A small loft space is hidden from view by a pretty white and gold curtain.
The classic style of the apartment continues into the bathroom decorated with marble floor tiles and classic white subway tiles on the wall. The bathroom features a washbasin from Fired Earth.
The non-tiled parts of the walls are decorated with the Grace Graphite wallpaper by Sandberg.
The hall connects the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. It is divided into two parts, and the back part is fitted with built-in closets. Patterned floor tiles lie underfoot, and the walls are decorated with wallpaper mimicking natural stone.
