A Stylish Black and White Penthouse Apartment in Stockholm
The top floor of a late 19th-century apartment building in central Stockholm has been turned into a beautiful attic apartment with exposed wooden beams, a roof terrace, and black color accents.
The apartment was designed by architect Jonas Glock in 2022. Despite the top floor location with slanted ceilings and the use of black, the apartment feels light and airy thanks to high ceilings, three dormer windows, skylights, and smaller windows facing the terrace.

The 82 square meter apartment has a large open-plan living room and kitchen with an industrial glass room divider and door leading to the apartment’s only bedroom.
This glass partition helps to let natural light flow through the home, but you can create a private zone by drawing the curtains.
The open-plan living space is defined by beautiful exposed wooden beams, showing the history of the apartment. The original ceiling beams are paired with a black feature wall and a dark-stained herringbone parquet floor. The designers managed to create a wonderful balance between light and dark.
From the living room, a glazed door gives access to a private terrace with rooftop views.
In the corner of the living room stands a beautiful sculptural fireplace. These curved shapes also return in the decor.
The sitting area seamlessly flows into the kitchen space, where they extended the kitchen counter with a small desk.
The spacious kitchen is fitted under the round dormer windows. Sleek black cabinets are topped with a marble countertop.
There are only a few color pops in the apartment. The door to the bathroom is painted in a deep red shade, and the window seat in the kitchen has a bold red velvet upholstery.
The black and white color scheme continues into the bedroom. Three skylights flood the room with natural light, and a soft gray carpet lies underfoot.
The bedroom gives access to a spacious walk-in closet.
The bathroom lies next to the kitchen and is completely tiled in Statuario stone. There is a walk-in shower as well as a sauna under a dormer window.
The apartment is listed for sale at Wrede.
