Colorful and fun in the heart of Copenhagen. In a former porcelain factory and university building, minutes from Nørrebro station, lies 25hours Hotel Indre By. The 243 rooms range from a single room to gigantic suites, each with its own colorful, art-filled design.

Hotel Sanders

Hotel Sanders is a five-star hotel that has been voted one of the best hotels in Scandinavia multiple times. The 54-room hotel is located only meters from the popular tourist spot Nyhavn and the Danish Royal Theatre, so it couldn’t be more central.

The design in Hotel Sanders is impeccable, with lots of wicker, wood, fireplaces, and cozy nooks. You could say it’s filled with Danish hygge. The hotel has a plant-filled roof terrace, a courtyard, and a cocktail bar, all styled to perfection.

Hotel Danmark is centrally located at walking distant from the Central Station, Glyptoteket and Christiansborg Palace. I’ve stayed twice at this hotel and I can say it’s an ideal location to explore Copenhagen.

You’ll see lots of marble, green tones, and brass fixtures in the rooms ranging from a bunk bed room, small single rooms to a junior suite. The only downside for me is that they don’t have a restaurant, but they do serve an organic breakfast.

Hotel SP34

Hotel SP34 is located in the Latin Quarter of Copenhagen. The Latin Quarter is a bohemian area with design shops and restaurants at only 500 meters from Tivoli. SP34 is decorated in a combination of raw materials like concrete combined with warm wood. Very Scandinavian!

Hotel Ottilia

Hotel Ottilia is the newest addition to the Brøchner family. It’s located a bit out of the city center but the hotel rents out bicycles so you’re in the city centre in no time.

The hotel is located in the Carlsberg District which is a vibrant up-and-coming area of Copenhagen where a lot of new shops and urban restaurants pop up.

The hotel is designed in an industrial style with lots of raw concrete and stylish Danish design.

The Audo

The Audo isn’t just a hotel, it is a meeting place where the international art and design community can come together, collaborate, experiment, and incorporate the inspiration they find into a unique story that they can then share with the world.

The Audo is a collaboration between Norm Architects and the furniture company Menu. At The Audo, you’ll find a concept store, restaurant, and cafe, co-working space, gathering place, ánd hotel.

The 10 hotel rooms are carefully designed with beautiful design furniture and high-quality materials. If you’re looking for a unique and stylish stay in Copenhagen, this is it!

Nobis Hotel

Nobis Hotel is a hotel where Neoclassical architecture and sleek design are combined in a wonderful way.

The hotel is located in an early 20th-century building that used to house the Royal Danish Academy of Music and has been carefully restored to accommodate Nobis Hotel.

The hotel is light with blue and green color touches in combination with natural materials such as wood, wool, leather, and marble.

Villa Copenhagen

Villa Copenhagen is a new hotel that opened in April 2020 and quickly became a favorite for design and fashion lovers. With a rooftop pool, a bakery, and a central location, this hotel should be on the top of your list.

The hotel is located in a stately building next to Tivoli Gardens (yes, for central locations!). Villa Copenhagen houses 390(!) rooms, all designed in a light Scandinavian style with high ceilings.

If you love timeless Scandinavian style, being close to public transport, great food, and the convenience of renting a bicycle, then this is the hotel for you.

Hotel Skt Petri

Centrally located in the Latin Quarter Hotel Skt. Petri is a beautiful design hotel with cozy rooms and impressive design. The unique and spacious rooms and suites are furnished with an eye for laidback luxury – all designed in a Scandinavian style with an international touch.

Hotel Saint Vincent is located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans which is a vibrant area with Greek Revival and Italianate buildings. The red brick building of Hotel Saint Vincent had decorative wrought-iron railings giving it plenty of historic charm.

The building was redesigned into a hotel by design firm Lambert McGuire Design. Much of the interior layout of the 1861 building have stayed the same. And the interiors are an eclectic mix of styles, from art-deco to midcentury design.

The story of Hotel Saint Vincent begins in Ireland in 1813 with the birth of Margaret Haughery, née Gaffney. Margaret, an orphan, eventually made her way to New Orleans in 1835.

There she became known locally as “Our Margaret” for her endless community giving and philanthropy. In 1861, Margaret, with money from her successful bakery, founded The Saint Vincent’s Infant Asylum, a refuge for thousands both young and old.

In 1884, two years after her death, a statue of her was erected, making it the second public monument to a woman in American history. Today, Margaret Place, a park in the Lower Garden District near Hotel Saint Vincent, is a reminder of the humanitarian who devoted her life in support of the people and city of New Orleans.

Miss Clara by Nobis

Miss Clara is a four star boutique hotel in an Art Nouveau building in the center of Stockholm. The hotel is close to restaurants, bars, and the most important shopping street of Stockholm.

The 92 hotel rooms at Miss Clara are decorated with Art Nouveau-inspired furniture and have dark herringbone parquet floors. To maximize the natural light, the bathroom wall the walls is designed in frosted glass.

Downtown Camper by Scandic

Downtown Camper is a cool hotel in the heart of Stockholm. It’s the perfect hotel for people who love an active ánd a relaxing holiday. Downtown Camper not only offers bikes and kayaks for loan, but it also offers a wellness with sauna and swimming pool.

It’s a large hotel with 494 rooms, and they offer a large variety of room types. From single rooms to master suites with can sleep up to 12 people.

Hotel At Six

On the same square as Downtown Camper, in the heart of Stockholm, stands Hotel At Six. Hotel At Six is a destination where contemporary art, fine dining, and exquisite interior design meet to create a modern luxury hotel

Blique by Nobis

Just outside the city center in the Vasastan district lies design hotel Blique by Nobis. Architect Sigurd Lewerentz designed the Blique by Nobis buildings, their graphic identity, exhibitions, and more.

The contemporary design hotel offers three room styles: sleep rooms without windows, standard rooms, and studios with kitchenette for longer stays. The rooms at Blique by Nobis are space-efficient and designed by architects at Wingårdhs. About half of the rooms are housed in what was once a warehouse for Philips, landscaped by architect Sigurd Lewerentz. The other half of the rooms are housed in a softly arched rear house from the 90’s.

Guild House is a Victorian mansion on Locust Street in Philadelphia. And from 1906, this was the home of the New Century Guild, a club which supported the growing number of working women in the city.

The women in this club were inspiring. They were abolitionists, suffragists, activists, artists, writers, and more. And today, each luxurious Guild House hotel room pays tribute to the women of the New Century Guild.

The interiors of the Guild House Hotel are designed by the female-owned and operated ROHE Creative.

The Eliza Junior Suite is named after Eliza Sproat Turner (founder of The New Century Guild). She was a writer, abolitionist, suffragist, educator, and nature lover. 

The Florence Room is named after Florence Kelley, a fiercely driven social and political reformer, a key figure in the Progressive Era, and a founding member of the New Century Guild. 

The Mathilde Room is named after Mathilde Weil, a well-known photographer around the turn of the century, 

The Alice Deluxe Suite is named after Dr. Alice Norton, a remarkable Guild member who organized the Guild’s musical and theatrical productions.

The Edith Room is named after Edith Brubaker, who was president of the Guild. She led fellow members down Broad Street in a parade for women’s suffrage. The women wore yellow-and-white armbands — the colors of their cause.

The Ruby Room is named for the Guild’s ruby butterfly pin, a piece of jewelry the women of the Guild circulated for years amongst themselves as a talisman of seniority in the organization. 

The Wilda Room is named after Wilda Love, the New Century Guild’s housekeeper from 1915 into the 1920s.

The Mary Margaretta Room is named after Mary Grew and Margaretta Jones Burleigh, founding members of the New Century Club that was the Guild’s predecessor. They were also ardent abolitionists, suffragists, and dear friends.

The Gabrielle Room is named after Gabrielle De Veaux Clements, who was a co-founder of the New Century Guild as well as a renowned painter, printmaker, and muralist.

The Emily Room is named after artist Emily Sartain, who co-founded the New Century Club that was the precursor to the Guild.

The Abigail Room is named after Abigail Evens, a writer and devoted member, famous in the Guild for having penned its poetic slogan.

The Maker Hotel features work from local Hudson Valley craftsmen, but also from global artisans. The hotel is decorated with vintage pieces and a unique art collection that celebrates the world of makers.

The hotel’s location is in the center of the Hudson Valley. Surrounding this place are farms and the Catskill mountains, making it a perfect escape from New York City.

The Terrace Lofts

Reminiscent of bohemian rooftop studios in 1920’s Paris, they are filled with light from dormer windows and French doors leading into terraces with outdoor seating. These lofts are airy and informal, filled with eclectic art and a giant daybed that invites afternoon naps, late night conversations or a date with a book.

The Corner Studio

Inspired by the sophisticated glamour of classic Hollywood movies, The Corner Studio resembles an elegant set. With an abundance of windows and sunlight, the allure of this spacious room is punctuated with vintage photography, including a rare portrait of Joan Crawford.

I know many of you won’t feel the same way, and that’s okay! But for me, the hotel is one of the most important things when I book a trip. And this is why I’m always on the hunt for beautiful hotels. And today I found Downtown Los Angeles Proper Hotel that ticks my boxes.

Inside a Californian Renaissance Revival-style building in Los Angeles you will find the Dowtown Los Angeles Proper Hotel. The building went from a private club in the 1920s to a YWCA in the 1960s, and now a design hotel.

Downtown Los Angeles Proper Hotel is designed by Kelly Wearstler. She took inspiration from Mexican modernism and combined this with elements of French and Moroccan design.

There are many unique design features in the hotel. Including a mosaic wall in the pool suite by Ben Medansky, the reception desk by Morgan Peck, and artwork in the guestrooms by Jason Trotter.

The glass windows and doors are by Judson Studios, and the occasional statement mirror by Matthew Morgan, while the furniture was designed by Jay Edward, Composition, AFM, Mirror Image, and Spike Lighting.

The hotel offers 148 beautifuly designed hotel rooms, a pool, gym and several wellness activities.

As a person passionate about stunning interiors, it will come as no surprise that the design of a hotel is extremely important to me. And Villa Ivy in Salzburg ticked all my interior design boxes.

The Hotel

Nestled between blueberry fields and Hellbrunn Palace gardens, you will find Salzburg’s most beautiful home away from home. And that really is the best way to describe Villa Ivy. It’s not just a hotel. Villa Ivy welcomes you with open arms and feels more like staying with family than in a hotel.

The yellow villa has been transformed by HeyM Collections into Salzburg’s most beautiful boutique hotel. The hotel offers 17 rooms, ranging from Classic Rooms to a Suite. And all rooms are styled beautifully. Some rooms even have balconies with a view of the blueberry fields and the Unterberg.

Besides the hotel’s design, location and homely feeling, there is another reason to stay at Villa Ivy. A delicious organic breakfast is served every morning in the dining room or on the terrace by Kombu.

The breakfast is made with organic ingredients from Salzburg farms. Fresh vegetables, fragrant herbs from the garden, and blueberries from the field directly in front of the villa, if the season permits. And yes, breakfast is always included in the hotel price!

On top of that, from Thursday-Sunday Kombu also serves lunch and dinner at Villa Ivy. And from experience, I can tell you that it is delicious. But make sure you book a table, because they are often fully booked!

The Design of Hotel Villa Ivy

Owner Martina Toifl and photographer/interior designer Pia Clodi have created a warm and stylish hotel which instantly makes you feel at home.

Flowers are the main inspiration for Villa Ivy, and this can be seen throughout the hotel, from the bouquets in your hotel room to the floral artwork created by Pia Clodi.

Fun fact: The models you see in the photographs throughout the hotel all have a connection to Villa Ivy. For example, owner Martina Toifl and her daughters are among the models.

The rooms are decorated in inviting blue, pink and grey shades. With layered textiles and floral patterns to create a cosy ambience. The rooms have vintage furnishings and decor; some even have a clawfoot tub. (My room had a clawfoot tub with a view of the Unterberg and the blueberry fields).

Downstairs is the dining room and lounge. Again this is styled to perfection with velvet fabrics in blue and pink shades and plenty of artwork on the walls. It’s a warm space where you can eat, drink or work in comfort and style.

The Location

Villa Ivy is located in Anif, just outside the city of Salzburg. Nestled between the blueberry fields and the Hellbrunn Palace gardens. It’s a calming location, perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing or hiking.

From the hotel, you have a gorgeous view over the Unterberg. Hellbrunn Palace and the Salzburg Zoo are within walking distance from Villa Ivy.

A bus stop is within walking distance from the hotel (at the entrance of Hellbrunn Palace), which will take you to the city centre within 30 minutes. And the best thing is that this bus service runs every 15 minutes. So you never have to wait long for your ride to the centre or back to the hotel.

This great location means that Villa Ivy is not only a great hotel for a city trip to Salzburg. But it can also be your hotel base for discovering the nature surrounding Salzburg.

The owners

The Goodtime Hotel is a collaboration between Pharrell Williams and nightlife entrepreneur David Grutman. For the interior design of the hotel they turned to Ken Fulk, who created bright and happy spaces filled with colorful rooms, cozy seating spots and tropical influences.

The Hotel Rooms

The Goodtime Hotel has 266 hotel rooms. Ranging from small queen rooms overlooking the ocean to king rooms. But also rooms with accessible shower and rooms that are “hearing accessible” (which have a visual door bell and strobe)

“Strawberry Moon, named for the full moon that occurs closest to the summer solstice, is the centerpiece of the goodtime hotel. It offers an energetic and dynamic gathering place for all of our guests. Diners will find a variety of Mediterranean classics that are fun and flavorful, as well as “Club House Classics” that promise to satisfy comfort food cravings. The indoor-outdoor atmosphere immediately elevates one’s mood, and all but guarantees a carefree good time.”
