The 2026 Sherwin-Williams Color Trends Forecast consists of 48 hand-picked hues and is divided into four palettes: Frosted Tints, Sunbaked Hues, Restorative Darks, and Foundational Neutrals.

An evolution of the delicate tints from previous forecasts, milky pastels are making their significant return, unfolding in spaces defined by effortlessly clean lines, artful accents, and elevated styling.

I hope it inspires you to take advantage of everything nature has to offer. The way people did it long before there were refrigerators and freezers”, says designer Mikael Axelsson.

The new and limited OMMJÄNGE collection shows traditional Swedish furniture through a contemporary lens. Old folklore designs may initially appear faded and outdated. But IKEA explored ideas untouched by the sun, such as behind cabinets and inside clothes, and discovered a surprisingly vibrant color palette.

For people living in rural Sweden in the 1800s, funds and space were limited. Sleeping, eating, and socializing all took place in the same room. The products in the new OMMJÄNGE collection take inspiration from this, and while today’s small-space living may not be the same as then, it calls for the same versatile solutions.

The bride and her wedding dress, with its graphic patterns in vibrant colors, were captured by a traveling painter in 1846. Her dress was black with red textile roses and triangular shapes in green, black, red, white, and blue. And on her head, she wore a crown.

With traditional materials updated in fresh colors, OMMJÄNGE offers a new take on Swedish folklore.

The OMMJÄNGE collection pays tribute to Swedish folklore by combining traditional Swedish craftsmanship with modern-day ingenuity.

Discovered detailed, handcrafted, playful products from classic materials such as solid pine wood, wool, stoneware, and glass.

Inspired by techniques from the 1800s and folk art’s incredible attention to detail, OMMJÄNGE aims to bridge contemporary needs with forgotten traditions.

When designing these trays, Maria Vinke was inspired by the traditional Swedish “svepask”, usually round or oval little boxes made of heat-bent wood.

The two drop-shaped OMMJÄNGE trays are made from heat-bent birch veneer and come in natural birch and lacquered orange with visible grain. The handle makes them easy to carry and the holes allow you to hang them on the wall after use.

In rural Sweden during the 1800s, most people stored their clothes in a chest bench beside their bed. A great example of the type of hidden storage we still have use for today.

The OMMJÄNGE bench with storage is made from a solid pine frame with a detachable lid. With two different textile weaves on each side, you can instantly switch up your look from orange/pink to yellow/black.

In the 19th century, most Swedish homes held a small decorative liquor cabinet. The OMMJÄNGE cabinet is IKEA’s version of it, made in stained solid pine wood.

Inspired by the graphic silhouettes of Swedish folklore, it’s decorative both when opened and closed.

The classic folding table was designed as a solution for small homes and was very popular 200 years ago. The OMMJÄNGE drof-leaf table comes in its own version of the many times ornamented table, but now the tabletop itself serves as the decoration.

Designer Matilda Hunyadi wanted to improve the comfort of her solid pine OMMJÄNGE chair by giving it a slightly angled backrest, but to do so, she needed additional support.

Inspired by the rocking chair, she added short runners to the chair’s back legs. This way, she not only prevented it from tipping over but also introduced an element of surprise to an old classic.

Inspired by the lavishly decorated wedding dress from 19th-century Sweden, this handwoven rug is a colorful eye-catcher. The geometric patterns and the mix of shower and long piles give the rug a lively expression, and the wool material makes it a warm and soft refuge from cold floors.

The milk stool was initially designed to relieve the backs and knees when milking cows, but it was quickly used for many chores around the house.

The OMMJÄNGE solid pine stool was inspired by the triangular shape of chopped wood, and it comes in an orange-red stained look. Use it for tying shoes or make it a place for magazines and decorations. The small stool is lightweight and easy to move around.

The OMMJÄNGE cushion cover has a traditional pattern made in a dobby weave, creating a tactile and unique touch with a naturally crinkled effect. With an interesting pattern in cheerful colors, it’s nice to look at and soft to lean against.

The colorful OMMJÄNGE pendant lampshade is made of three steel cones in the bell-shaped form of a dress. The decorative cutout in the yellow cone reveals part of the pink petticoat and leaves a soft light on its surroundings.

The OMMJÄNGE candle holder was inspired by a Swedish wedding dress from the 1800s. Back then, it was also common for the bride to wear a crown. Let this queen in glazed stoneware become the centerpiece of your table or light up a dark corner.

The OMMJÄNGE glassware set includes a large jug, drinking glasses, bowls, and a double-sprouted serving bowl. Inspired by the glazed terracotta bowls from Swedish heritage, designer Maria Vinka decided to adapt the shapes and colors into transparent and opaque glass.

Mouth-blown by skilled artisans, each glass object has a unique character and pattern. Combining two types of stained glass instead of painting on the glass ensures that the colors stay true over time.

Inspired by classic kerosene lamps, this mouth-blown tealight holder in glass gives the traditional a fine-tuned twist. Let the clear glass in the OMMJÄNGE tealight holder reflect and amplify the candle flame, filling your room with a warm glow.

By handweaving rattan around a metal frame, IKEA created a large and stable clover-shaped basket with a fresh pop of color.

Basket weaving is considered one of the world’s oldest crafts. As part of traditional folk art, people in 19th century Sweden would braid baskets and boxes out of thinly sliced birch bark, “näver.”

The OMMJÄNGE set of baskets in two different sizes is made with the same technique but now handwoven from thinly sawn poplar. By staining every other strip of poplar, they have also added a bit of color.

The OMMJÄNGE wall hooks were inspired by the traditional method of twisting metal wire. Coated in cheerful colors with a clover shape, they come in a set of three.

The OMMJÄNGE hanging tapestry was inspired by the traditional tapestries that could adorn the Scandinavian living room wall or hang above the kitchen sofa.

The MÄVINN wall decorations come in a set of two, and their bold geometric expression suits both walls and tables. Handcrafted with flexible banana bark fibers and black cotton threads, they also provide safe and stable employment for women in rural India.

The artisans at Ramesh Flowers in India have hand-braided the MÄVINN lampshade into an open-weave pattern. With a clear light bulb, the airy design of the banana fibres can create shadow effects on your walls and ceilings.

The main goal of MÄVINN is to create employment opportunities for those who need it most. Sometimes that means adding elements to a product. While these pompons give this hand-braided banana fibre basket an extra pop of color, they also provide additional work to the textile weavers at Rangsutra.

This basket connects the island of Flores in Indonesia with the rest of the world, and it connects an ancient hexagonal hand-weaving technique to you. By collaborating with the social business Du Anyam, IKEA supports the livelihoods of women and families in a very isolated part of the world.

This flexible MÄVINN basket in jute gives your KALLAX shelving unit a natural touch.

Every MÄVINN plate is handcrafted to create jobs for Indigenous and tribal groups in northern Thailand in collaboration with the social business Doi Tung.

Woven, embroidered, and with tassels tied by hand, the MÄVINN table-runner helps improve the living conditions of 467 artisans and their families.

The MÄVINN place mat is crafted from natural jute fibres and will add texture and style to your dinner party. It is partly hand-embroidered by artisans at Classical Handmade Products in Bangladesh, a social business that aims to support women and people with disabilities into employment.

The raw quality of the natural jute fibres lends a rustic appeal to this basket. And the hand-embroidery in black and white creates a bold contrast against the natural tones.

The MÄVINN apron is made from hand-woven cotton, granting it a soft texture and a longer life expectancy. The apron has a practical front pocket divided into two compartments, and the hand-embroidered detailing in yellow and pink offers a smart loop to hang towels or spatulas.

This colorful hand-woven and hand-tasseled throw was designed to reduce inequality by empowering women in rural India. The traditional craftsmanship also ensured a unique blanket that looks great on both sides.

The little hand-embroidered caterpillar on one of the cushions provides work for 305 refugees from Syria and women artisans in Jordan.

This rug is created in partnership with the social business Karupannya, which helps to create jobs for people living on the riverbanks of Bangladesh, a region heavily affected by global warming.

The rug is handwoven from undyed jute and cotton with details in colored wool, making it decorative and durable.

This new collection is designed to last and will remain part of IKEA’s regular range. Three designers, each with a unique yet harmonious design perspective, have collaborated to shape a collection that feels unified while allowing each piece to stand on its own.

Drawing inspiration from the city of Stockholm, the collection captures the contrast between urban life and surrounding nature with earthy tones, natural woods, and textiles that echo the landscapes and colors of the region.

The two distinctly different sofas were designed to act as hubs for the collection. Designer Ola Wihlborgs’ wide modular sofa, available in four colors including a deep turquoise velvet, was born out of his frustration with sofas that constantly needed to have their cushions fluffed. 

The second statement sofa, designed by Nike Karlsson, has a solid pine frame and white cushions. The sofa is made from natural materials and consists of woven fabric, natural latex, and coconut fiber, which gives the sofa exceptional comfort and a timeless look.

Rattan was a central material in STOCKHOLM 2017, and Nike’s iconic rattan cabinet became a sought-after favorite. In the new collection, Nike introduces a sliding door cabinet with a surface of hand-woven rattan.

”It’s all about the details, from the design to the material choices. Like with the dining chairs, where we used oak because it ages with grace, leather seating for comfort, and a beautifully curved back so guests can linger for hours.” says designer Ola Wihlborg

The raw nature of the materials permeates the entire collection, where chairs, bookshelves, and dining tables demonstrate both detailed craftsmanship and clever construction. The result is an elegant, clean design that is strong and will last over time.

The bentwood chairs are made using a traditional technique where beech wood is soaked and gently bent by hand to form soft, rounded arches in the arms and back.  

From pure wool to genuine leather – every single material of every single product that’s part of the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection has been carefully selected, all to offer comfort, durability, and tactility.

Over the past three years, the designers of the IKEA STOCKHOLM collection have been on a journey to create a no-compromise kind of collection, where every piece tells a story of what quality is all about.

For example, the rugs have all been handwoven by skilled artisans, where traditional techniques have been passed down from generation to generation.

The chairs are made of solid oak, which only gets more beautiful with time. All vases are mouthblown, and the chandeliers come with white gloves to wear during assembly. The details make all the difference in the Ikea Stockholm collection.

The shelf’s detail no. 1 is the fitting with which the shelves are mounted. The shelf is assembled with a hidden fitting that stabilizes the shelf and enables airy construction without a back panel or braces.

In a country where more than half is covered by forest, the great outdoors plays a significant role in the life of a Swede. Up here in the north, autumns are rainy, winters are snow-filled, springtimes are unreliable, and during summer, the sun never sets.

With the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection, IKEA has captured the hues and moods across all four seasons, as well as the materials, organic shapes, and forest-inspired patterns than can be found there.

Simply put, the collection offers a Scandinavian design that echoes Sweden’s beautiful landscape and design heritage, with all te bells and whistles it can muster.

The forest is central to textile designer Paulin Machado’s designs, including lampshades adorned with leaf and mushroom patterns and color combinations taken directly from the Scandinavian seasons.

Her collection of 100 percent wool rugs are handwoven and feature birch patterns that bring nature into the home. Blankets and pillowcases in merino wool in multi-colored patterns add a dramatic touch.
