A Colorful Midcentury Apartment Filled with Art and Plants
In a former retirement home of the 1940s in Stockholm, you can find this wonderful one-bedroom apartment where colors, styles, materials, and patterns are mixed to create a cozy and personal home.
The apartment has a floorplan of only 56 square meters, but the rooms are well-designed, and the home feels bigger than its actual size. Each room has its own color palette, and they are decorated with lots of art, layered textiles, and plants, creating beautiful rooms that you simply want to move into.
How cozy is this? The living room is painted in a deep blue shade (Jotun’s ‘Sky Blue’) which is paired with brighter color accents in the art and textiles.
A large Persian rug adds color depth to the room and creates a cozy atmosphere. The rooms can be painted in a dark shade thanks to the two south-facing windows that bring plenty of natural light to the living room.
One wall is turned into a fantastic gallery wall featuring modern and vintage designs in every color of the rainbow.
The room is big enough for a second sitting area by the window. The walnut cabinet adds a nice warm accent to the room.
The apartment is small, so storage is essential. The living room features built-in wardrobes painted in the same color as the walls to make them blend in beautifully.
The apartment has a cozy kitchen space with enough room for a dining table.
The classic kitchen cabinets were recently repainted in Alcro’s ‘Forest’ shade.
An accent wall has been created by the kitchen table using the cheerful ‘Fairytale Tree’ wallpaper by Josef Frank.
The bedroom lies next to the kitchen. The room pairs plum walls with natural elements like the rattan headboard, mirrors, and plants.
The walls are painted in Jotun’s ‘Lavender’ shade. The color changes depending on the light flowing in from the window. The soft purple shade is paired with brighter accents like the pink bedding and red mirror.
Adding color can be so simple. These classic IKEA shoe cabinets are painted pink to add a nice color pop to the white hallway.
