The house, built in the 1840s, was extended in recent years, and the interior spaces were carefully renovated, adding a light color palette and contemporary materials.

The blend of old and new is wonderful in this house. Exposed brick walls, marble fireplaces, and sash windows pair beautifully with terrazzo tiles, a sleek white kitchen, and a modern split-level garden.

A Black and White Primrose Hill Mews House with a Roof Terrace https://www.thenordroom.com/black-white-primrose-hill-mews-house-roof-terrace/ Mon, 16 Jun 2025 07:00:00 +0000 https://www.thenordroom.com/?p=61075 Tucked away at the end of a gated cobbled mews in the heart of Primrose Hill stands this mews house with contemporary interiors and a large roof terrace. It looks like a typical historic mews house with white-painted brickwork, carriage doors, and sash windows. Still, inside, you will find a modern black and white interior palette, open-plan living spaces, and green outdoor areas.

Threefold Architects transformed the historic mews into a contemporary home. Original elements have been restored where possible and paired with a restrained palette of materials characteristic of the building’s industrial heritage.

During the renovation, a steel frame was inserted into the historic building, making the interior space airy and open-plan with white walls, wooden floorboards, and large windows in the living space.

Arched Shapes and Hand-Painted Murals in a Joyful London Townhouse https://www.thenordroom.com/arched-shapes-hand-painted-murals-joyful-london-townhouse/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 09:24:25 +0000 https://www.thenordroom.com/?p=58618 Do you love colorful interiors? If so, you need to stay right here and see this wonderful three-bedroom townhouse in Forest Gate, east London. When the owners bought this newly built home, they enlisted the help of PL Studio to reimagine it into a warm, characterful, and joy-filled home with a unique color palette and hand murals in every room.

PL Studio‘s brief was to inject personality, positivity, and confidence into rooms that once felt lacklustre. The result is a kaleidoscopic design packed with exuberance, where daring palettes and unexpected details bring each floor to life.

A captivating Majorelle blue acts as a connecting thread, weaving through the home and linking the distinct, spirited spaces together. And on the top floor, you will find a spacious roof terrace with panoramic views.

The house is laid out over three floors. You enter the home on the ground floor in a large entrance hall from where you can step into this sitting room/home office.

It’s the second time we will tour this beautiful home, and while some elements have stayed the same since it was last put on the market, much of the decorating has changed, so it’s nice to see the difference.

The apartment has an amazing, social layout with a grand open-plan living space with dedicated spaces for lounging, dining, and cooking. What gives this penthouse apartment so much character is the architectural features, like the exposed wooden beams, a brick wall, and a traditional Swedish fireplace.

The historical elements combine perfectly with contemporary material choices, modern colors, and lots of custom-built-in storage space. Large rugs, art, and midcentury furniture pieces add coziness to the attic apartment.

The Wee House – as it is called – is a 640 square feet house designed by Joe Wright Architect, divided over five stories.

The narrow house is an excellent example of designing interior spaces with limited available space. Each floor only has one function, whether that’s cooking, sleeping, or living. And on the top floor, they created a charming plant-filled roof terrace.
