A Charming Light-Filled Attic Apartment with a Dark Oak Kitchen

On the top floor of a 1920s apartment building in Stockholm’s Södermalm neighborhood lies this charming apartment with an open floor plan, slanted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and a wonderful rooftop view over the trendiest area in Stockholm.

Attic apartments can feel dark and small, but not this apartment. It is decorated in a light color scheme and has plenty of dormer windows and skylights to make the home airy and light. Attached to the kitchen is a wonderful roof terrace with views of the rooftops that make it look like you’re on top of the world.

The kitchen and living room are one big open space, but there are nooks that create separate areas. The kitchen is new and features dark oak doors from Lucks By Robo and quartz composite worktops that continue into a kitchen island, which you can see in a later image.

A large table is placed in front of the terrace doors, creating a lovely indoor/outdoor feeling.

The newly created terrace is an extension of the kitchen. The private southwestern terrace gets sunlight throughout the day and offers wonderful views of the surrounding buildings.

The kitchen was extended into the space between the kitchen and living room to create a small ‘island’ with bar seating.

The kitchen flows into the hall space where the owners created built-in wardrobes with mirror doors to keep it tidy. The mirror doors make the room feel even brighter and bigger than it already is.

From the hall, you move into the sitting area where the history of the building is visible, thanks to the exposed brick wall and the wooden beams that are visible throughout the apartment.

The three windows create a light ambiance and offer views of the church nearby.

The master bedroom is a charming room with greige walls, a wooden headboard, and mirror wardrobes that make the room feel larger.

The apartment’s second bedroom is located next to the kitchen. The small, sun-filled room has half-painted pink walls and two big windows overlooking the courtyard and rooftops.
