A Charming Attic Apartment in Stockholm’s Gamla Stan
If you have ever been to Stockholm then you have probably wandered through Gamla Stan, or the Old Town. With its historic plaster houses, narrow cobbled streets, the Royal Palace, old churches, and charming shops, it is a favorite spot to spend an afternoon when you’re in the city.
This charming two-bedroom apartment lies in the Weilerska house, acquired in 1616 by the skilled craftsman MÃ¥rten Weiler. The apartment lies on the top two floors of the building, and despite the age and the slanted ceilings on the top floor, the rooms are bright thanks to large windows and a light color scheme.

The living room is a bright and long room with nice wooden floors, three large windows, and a stunning traditional fireplace.
The white walls are paired with gray-painted joinery. The paneled walls and deep window niches show the history of the apartment.
The long room is clearly divided into two areas with a charming sitting area on one side, featuring the pretty painted fireplace, and a dining area on the other side.
Traditional Swedish tiled fireplaces come in all kinds of shapes and colors. Some are plain white, and some are painted, like this charming example with a floral pattern.
Just like the living room, the kitchen is also a long and narrow room. It is newly renovated with classic light-colored cabinets paired with brass fittings and a marble-patterned stone composite countertop.
A double row of cabinets with glass-fronted and closed doors provides plenty of storage. Tongue and groove backsplash paneling adds a historical element to the room.
A small standalone cabinet with a microwave also serves as a charming bar seating with two kitchen steps as stools that can also be used to access the highest kitchen cabinets.
The front door opens directly into the kitchen, and on the left, you can see a small storage niche that can be hidden with a lace curtain.
The stairs in the living room lead you to the upper floor. You first enter an open space that is now used as a charming reading room with a lovely built-in bench by the window.
Bookshelves have been fitted on one wall, and the room also has built-in wardrobes.
A glass-framed door leads you to the master bedroom on one end of the floor. The entire top floor features exposed wooden beams, adding historic charm to the spaces.
Skylgihts turn the bedroom into a bright space and also offer views over the rooftops of Stockholm.
On the other side of the reading room lies the second bedroom with a built-in single bed and a desk. The door leads to a spacious built-in closet.
The walls, decorated with a subtle blue floral wallpaper, adds a romantic touch to this bedroom.
The apartment is listed for sale at Innerstadsspecialisten.
