A Swedish Apartment with a Dutch Parquet Floor and Terracotta Bedroom
We’re heading to Stockholm to tour this charming midcentury apartment with two bedrooms, original features, and a muted color palette. The 55-square-meter apartment has a nice open floor plan with sliding doors between the living room and kitchen. When opened, both rooms are flooded with natural light coming from two directions.
The home is decorated in a blend of midcentury and contemporary furnishings. The living room, with its green walls, feels very midcentury, but in the bedroom, the owners opted for IKEA furniture and terracotta pink walls, creating a cozy haven.
The living room is spacious and can easily house a sitting area and a dining table. The original Dutch parquet floor is paired with sage green walls, creating a calm and natural look.
There is a midcentury dining table by the kitchen doors with a bench against the wall that provides extra seating space. The barn-style doors, painted in the same color as the walls, can close off the living room from the kitchen and bedroom behind the doors.
The kitchen was completely renovated in 2024 in a style that suits the apartment’s historic bones. The muted gray cabinets run all the way to the ceiling to add plenty of storage spaces and the lower cabinets are topped with a wooden worktop.
The kitchen is divided in half to create an extra bedroom. The window in the wall ensures that both rooms get plenty of natural light.
The bedroom is a cozy space with deep reddish-pink walls and the original parquet floor. This is paired with the IKEA GJÖRA bedframe, and IVAR cabinets are fitted on the wall on the other side.
The room next to the kitchen (formerly the dining room) is now used as a home office with light pink walls and a simple white desk.
The spacious hall also features the original parquet floor, and the walls are painted soft pink. Opposite the front door, the owner decorated the wall with a checkerboard pattern.
The apartment is listed for sale at Länsförsäkringar Fastighetsförmedling.
